Thousands of Texas A&M students held a remembrance ceremony early Monday morning to honor the victims of the fatal bonfire collapse that occurred 25 years ago, ahead of that year's football game against the University of Texas.

Twelve people were killed and 27 injured when the stack of 5,000 or so logs collapsed at 2:42 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999. Although the annual tradition dates back to the early 1900s and was organized in part by school administrators, subsequent bonfires have been held exclusively off-campus.

A memorial to those who died and were wounded was unveiled in 2004. This year's student bonfire is scheduled for next Friday, the day before the Aggies play the Longhorns for the first time since Texas A&M joined the SEC in 2012.

Six Texas middle schoolers were among the 30 finalists in a national STEM competition organized by Thermo Fisher Scientific, a leading supplier of classroom instruments. Two of those students, 14-year-old Samvith Mahadevan of Round Rock and 14-year-old Gary Allen Montelongo of La Joya, were named top winners of the contest, which had over 2,000 entrants.

Mahadevan developed a device that incorporates an AI algorithm to detect allergens in food products, citing his own experience with food allergies as the inspiration for creating the tool.

Montelongo studied how train car suspension springs and weight distribution affect train derailments, using his coding knowledge to create a program that measures vibrations in the springs of model trains.

Both students received $10,000, and their schools received $1,000 each to support STEM learning.

A Dallas Morning News columnist reflected on the significance of work starting on the $325 million Harold Simmons Park, a 250-acre development along the Trinity River that many longtime Dallas residents doubted would ever come to fruition.

Sharon Grigsby, who has written for the newspaper since 1980, recounted the numerous ideas proposed over the last few decades for developing the Trinity River, from a barge canal to an urban lake to a tollway.

The park, funded in part by a $50 million donation from the widow of the late Dallas businessman Harold Simmons, will feature skyline overlooks, skate parks, splash pads, roller rinks, gardens, trails, and kayaking facilities.

Harold Simmons Park is projected to create 530 jobs and attract 4 to 6 million annual visitors. Construction is expected to take about three years to complete.

Ibuprofen 😳😜

Stomach pain, dizziness, heart concerns, kidney problems…

These are just some of the scary side effects that can be found on the back of a bottle of Ibuprofen.

And to top it all off, Ibuprofen doesn't even address the main cause of your problem… It's only temporary pain relief.

You don't need to just alleviate your pain–you need to fight INFLAMMATION. That's why researchers speculate this one natural food could outperform Ibuprofen…

And it doesn't have the dangerous side effects mentioned above either!

==> THIS will erase your pain (forget Ibuprofen)
