| | Good morning. A new movement has been brewing on the fringe right to take down one of the most successful conservative media companies of the past decade. We'll get into why. Plus, a major new bidder swooped in to buy the app rotting the brains of America's youth: TikTok. | |

| | π WHAT WE'RE WATCHING | | π± Amazon made a last-minute bid for TikTok. Amazon put it in an offer to acquire TikTok's US operations ahead of the Trump administration's forced divestiture deadline. The e-commerce giant sees an opportunity to expand its digital advertising footprint and compete more directly with Meta and Google in the social media space. This potential acquisition, though placing TikTok in the hands of an American company owned by the Trump-aligned Jeff Bezos, would vastly empower one of the largest corporations on the planet. | β
The Free Press added new columnists to its roster. The Free Press announced the addition of several prominent voices to its team, including economist Tyler Cowen, Yale law professor Jed Rubenfeld, and political commentator Coleman Hughes. Founded by Bari Weiss, the publication positions itself as "America's most important home for the politically homeless." The FP's expanded lineup to include writers from across the political spectrum signals the increasing appetite for heterodox and even "politically homeless" thinkers in the media ecosystem. | π Newsmax's stock soared 1,500 percent after its IPO debut. Shares of conservative cable channel Newsmax soared nearly 180 percent on Tuesday, bringing its two-day gains to over 1,500 percent since its Monday debut. However, the stock, now called by some a "meme stock," plunged 77 percent shortly after its massive gains. Though Newsmax's stock saw immense fluctuations, the company is still retaining value as a cable news alternative to its main competitor, Fox News. | π° Trump's trust can now sell $2.3 billion in Truth Social stock. Trump Media & Technology Group, the parent company of Truth Social, filed a new statement with the SEC on Wednesday that would allow President Trump's trust, overseen by Donald Trump Jr., to sell up to 115 million shares of company stock β worth roughly $2.3 billion. While the company emphasized that the filing was routine and not an indication of an imminent sale, it drew attention as Truth Social's value has plummeted since President Trump took office. |
