CAMDEN ATF CERTIFIED ACCELERANT DETECTION K-9 | | Camden served with Union County Emergency Services in North Carolina from late 2016 until January 2024. Over his remarkable career, Camden was deployed to more than 500 fire scenes across the Southeastern United States, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Georgia. He also played a critical role in seven ATF National Response Team (NRT) activations, including the historic QVC warehouse fire in December 2022, the largest fire in North Carolina's history. K-9 Camden's investigative work made a profound impact on fire investigations. In one of his earliest cases in January 2017, he provided a crucial positive alert on a piece of clothing that led to a confession in a fatal fire investigation. His expertise also extended beyond active fire scenes—Camden assisted in training federal fire investigators at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and contributed to over 20 fire investigation training courses with the NC Office of State Fire Marshal. Now, in retirement, Camden faces an unexpected challenge. His primary care veterinarian recently referred him to a specialist after he developed a severe skin condition, suspected to be epitheliotropic lymphoma—a rare form of cancer. While awaiting biopsy results, Camden has already begun a costly journey of medical care, with his first specialist visit exceeding $1,100. Due to his immediate medical needs, and the full extent of his treatment and expenses being unknown, Project K-9 Hero has welcomed Camden to their program and are covering all future office visits, medications, and surgeries at 100%, for the rest of his life. | | | | |
