President Joe Biden signed a bill into law Saturday that averts a government shutdown and funds the government at current levels through March 14. The bill provides $100 billion in disaster aid and $10 billion in agricultural assistance to farmers. Early Saturday morning, the Senate overwhelmingly approved the bill by a margin of 85-11, with most Democrats and Republicans supporting the measure. The House approved the bill overwhelmingly, 366-34. The Senate also approved the Social Security Fairness Act on Saturday, eliminating two federal policies that prevented nearly 3 million Americans, including police officers, firefighters, postal workers, teachers, and others with a public pension, from collecting their full Social Security benefits. | College Football Playoff Kicks Off Home teams dominated the first round of the College Football Playoff this weekend. Yesterday, No. 6 Penn State rode a pair of first-half defensive touchdowns, including one by former walk-on Dominic DeLuca, to a 38-10 win against No. 11 SMU.
Later, Jaydon Blue and Quintrevion Wisner combined for 256 rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 5 Texas over No. 12 Clemson, 38-24. To cap off the night, No. 8 Ohio State blew past No. 9 Tennessee, 42-17.
