The TerraCycle Foundation is on a mission to stop the flow of waste into the ocean. In close partnership with local communities, they have designed and deployed world-class river waste prevention, collection, and recycling solutions in highly polluted Lat Phrao canal communities in Bangkok.
One of the programs that they're proudest of is the Waste Bank Program for schools. Students learn about waste management and recycling to promote sustainability in their schools and communities and get to participate in a canal cleanup with their team. These children recently participated in a canal cleanup at the Ladprao Canal and collected about 5,000 lbs of trash!
How YOU can help stop the flow of plastic:
Take out the trash
The cost for the TerraCycle Foundation to remove a pound of trash from waterways is $0.47. Remove 100 lbs for just under $50.
100% of your donation directly funds the Foundation's work–including programs like the Waste Bank for schools!
Make a difference close to home too, by joining a river or waterway cleanup near you. If you can't find one, consider hosting one yourself!
How the TerraCycle Foundation works
The Foundation's employees collect waste from river traps, devices that capture plastic waste and debris. The most common items in these river traps are plastic straws, plastic bags, and even tires. After the waste is collected, it's transported to the Foundation's sortation center, where it is weighed, sorted, tracked, and sent to our partners for recycling.
