Does The New York Times stand for free speech?

An eerie silence on the stabbing of Rushdie

The brutal stabbing of Salman Rushdie last Friday shocked the world. However, it appears the attempted murder of this famed author — against whom the Islamic Republic issued a lethal fatwa — has not warranted any meaningful criticism in The New York Times.
It's shocking, in fact, that the "paper of record" would fail to stand in firm solidarity with Rushdie and what he represents: the right to speak and publish freely.

Below are a few articles from The New York Sun regarding Rushdie's abhorrent assault and its implications — a story which we believe deserves our fullest attention.

If you stand for the principle of free speech, then you stand with us at the Sun in our fight to restore journalism to its highest calling.
