President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday named Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to head up a new federal agency, the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. Trump said the new agency "will pave the way for my administration to dismantle government bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies." Also on Tuesday, Trump named South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to head the Department of Homeland Security, giving her oversight of key federal agencies, including ICE, FEMA, and the Secret Service. Other key announcements included naming former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee as the next U.S. ambassador to Israel and former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to serve as CIA director. Trump also said he planned to nominate Fox News host Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense. Hegseth served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has worked for Fox since 2014, most recently as a co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. | CNN Plans Layoffs After Ratings Fall CNN CEO Mark Thompson is reportedly planning layoffs that could affect hundreds of employees following the network's low ratings during last week's Election Night coverage.
