The park boasts 11 miles of hiking trails over 1,644 acres and draws around 250,000 visitors a year, making it one of the most popular state parks in Texas. TxTag users can still use their toll tags in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, but HCTRA will handle all future billing and customer service. TxTag users are being notified to update their account information by October 15, 2024, as only active accounts will be transferred to HCTRA. Inactive accounts or those with unpaid balances may face penalties or closure. TxDOT will retain ownership of toll roads and equipment, and toll rates will remain unchanged. The final transition is pending approval from the Texas Transportation Commission. | Fort Cavazos Gets New Museum Fort Cavazos has opened the long-awaited National Mounted Warrior Museum, a project 13 years in the making that aims to showcase the history and evolution of mounted warfare, from mounted cavalry to modern tanks.
