 |  | | Pittsfield "Home of Spartan" Vermont | Death Race, the legendary — but unmistakably real — event on Spartan founder Joe De Sena's farm saw four finishers: Beau Greene, Daniel Gordon, Ryan Gore, Nick Arganbright.
Some of the many harrowing challenges included miles of fireman's carries, wheelbarrow crawls, overhead carries, bear crawls, a blindfolded 2500-rep workout, aqua burpees, yoke carries, riddles, a scavenger hunt through miles of mountain trails with no map, and knot-tying challenges. Oh — and of course, solving a Rubik's Cube in icy-cold water.
In addition to the Death Race, a 24-hour Hurricane Heat occurred with 33 finishers that included brutal tasks like two treks to the mountain top, boat-dragging competitions, and creating various ways to move a single grain of rice.
